Photoset - Nas At The Gasparilla Music Festival
Gasparilla Music Festival 2021
The Gasparilla Music Festival is an annual music festival in Downtown Tampa that supports music education throughout its Recycled Tunes program. It runs from Friday to Sunday and it’s been going strong since 2012. I had never attended in all of my years of living in Tampa and to be honest, I had no intention of going this year but when I found out that Nas, one of the greatest rappers of all time (and my all-time favorite) was going to close Saturday night’s lineup, I immediately went online and bought tickets.
The music festival in itself was a really fun experience despite me not knowing any of the artists in the lineup with the exception of “Nas”. They had multiple stages with different artists performing throughout the day. The setup was really nice, they had a variety of food and drinks stands. We spent some time at the “Silent Disco” and that was actually a really good time.
Camera Gear I Took with me
If you know anything about me, you know that I always roll with one of my cameras. On this night I decided to bring along my Fujifilm X100V. I decided to go with this camera due to its compact size. I also brought along the Fuji WCL-X100 II Wide Conversion Lens so I could capture a few wide shots as well.
That night I took a lot of photos, here are a few of them. I decided to shoot in black and white (ACROS film simulation), but I also shot in RAW so I have them in color as well.
I shared most of these photos on my Instagram, but there is one photo that now has a special meaning to me, and it is this photo that I captured of Nas towards the end of the show. He actually posted it on his Instagram account.!
Pretty cool, huh? Except for two things, #1 my photo looks a bit blurry and that is because he (NAS) screenshot it from my Instagram story and #2 unfortunately, he didn’t credit me on his IG post. That would have been nice if he would have tagged/credited me for my photo. In any case, I was still excited to see that he used my photo for his IG post. Thanks for a great show Nas, enjoyed all the hits especially those from back in the day!
Enough about that, below are the photos I took, I hope you guys like them. I didn’t have a zoom lens, so I did the best I could by getting as close as I could to the stage.
