Oct 13 Street Photography in the Market

Today while running some errands with the wife we made a stop at the Sanwa Farmer's Market in Tampa. I'd been their a few times before, and I while I don't enjoy grocery shopping, I find this place to have a lot of character and nice people. Very photogenic! So I decided to bring my camera and attempt to tell a story.

After having breakfast this morning, the first thing I did was grab my Panasonic Leica 15mm lens and mounted it on my Lumix GX85. This is my favorite combination for walking around and shooting candid/street photography. It's great for travel too!

Anyways, I've been making an effort to improve my street photography, but I've struggled a bit because in case you don't know, street photography can be intimidating. There is never the same scene and it is never easy taking photos of people in their everyday life. It's certainly not easy getting up close and personal in people's faces. Some people may snap on you for that! I could use a telephoto lens and keep my distance, but to me that's not what street photography is about, plus I really like how images render with that Pana Leica 15mm lens. Sweet lens!

I was at the market for about 45 minutes and below are some of the shots I captured. All my shots were shot in L. Monochrome photo profile, however, I didn't realize that I had my camera set to RAW only so when I transferred them over to my computer they were in color. I don't usually shoot in those profiles so I didn't know that I'd lose the effect since it wasn't in JPEG. If there is a way to keep the effect while shooting in RAW, please let me know in the comments.

All of my shots were edited with the Lightroom preset "B&W Punch". On a few of them I adjusted the exposure, but that's it. I think I was able to capture what the people of Sanwa Farmer's Market are like.
